Tips for Parents in an Emergency
Planning for an emergency situation helps everyone respond quickly and appropriately. Here are some tips that will help parents prepare and respond to an emergency situation.
Report any safety concerns. If you see something, say something to a school representative. You can anonymously report situations through our TipLine on our school mobile app. Download our free mobile app from the iTunes or Google Play store.
Encourage your child to follow their teacher’s lead in an
emergency. Talk with them about listening and following
directions given to them at all times.
Ensure that your child’s emergency contact information
is up-to-date and correct. This should be done at least
every year or anytime you move or change phone
numbers.
Please don’t call the school phone during an emergency.
Tying up phone lines also hampers the ability for school
officials to communicate as needed. Be assured that
school officials will be in contact with you as quickly as
possible when information is available.
During an emergency, do not go to the school. Keep your
phone available to receive updates on the situation and
where student-parent reunification will be, if necessary.
If students are moving from a school site, parents will be
notified by our messenger service to the numbers you
have on file with student information.
Parents who rush to the school may impede traffic and hinder emergency response vehicles from quickly getting to the scene. Also, during a crisis, police will not allow anyone on the school grounds until the situation has been resolved. You could put your own life in danger.
The safety of your child is a high priority for us. Please feel free to bring any issues or concerns to your school's principal.
