Dalton High School senior Lanier Land has been named the Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association (GCCA) Cheerleader of the Year for the 4A-6A classifications, marking a significant achievement in her cheerleading career. This honor recognizes her outstanding talent, dedication, and contributions to cheerleading at both her school and the state level.
Lanier is the second cheerleader in Dalton history to be selected for the All State Cheer Squad, following in the footsteps of Grace Anderson, who went on to achieve a national champion at Clemson University. To earn this prestigious title, Lanier had to demonstrate her skills through a rigorous selection process that included writing an essay, answering questions in front of an interview panel, and performing a routine. While most of the performance was done solo, she received stunting assistance from her teammates Alauna Adams, Ella Carroll, and Zippy Vinyard.
In addition to her cheerleading accomplishments, Lanier is an AP Scholar, a dedicated dancer at the Dance Theater of Dalton, Lacrosse player, Pep Club President, Interact Club Vice President, Christ Church Presbyterian Youth Beta Club, FCA, 4-year Top 10 Academic Student, Rotary Youth Leadership Award recipient, Cheer Hawaii Leadership Award recipient, Presidential Volunteer Service Award recipient, University of Georgia Certificate of Merit Winner and UCA All American Cheerleader. Her ability to excel in multiple disciplines speaks volumes about her work ethic and commitment.
Lanier's success is also a testament to the support and guidance of her coaches, Shalisa Love and Whitney Lusk, who have played a pivotal role in honing her skills and encouraging her growth as an athlete and leader.
Lanier Land’s recognition as GCCA Cheerleader of the Year is not just a personal triumph but also a proud moment for Dalton High School and the entire community, showcasing the talent and dedication that the school fosters in its students.
