Dalton, GA ā Dalton Public Schools continues to make significant progress on districtwide facility improvements, with a detailed capital update presented during the most recent Dalton Board of Education work session. The update highlighted ongoing renovations at Roan Elementary School and The Dalton Academy, as well as continued progress at Fort Hill, all designed to enhance learning environments and expand opportunities for students.
Director of Operations Rusty Lount shared timelines and construction milestones, noting that major projects remain on schedule for completion in Summer 2026.
The Roan Renovations and Modifications Project is currently in progress, with substantial completion scheduled for August 1, 2026.
This comprehensive renovation includes upgraded and fully replaced restroom facilities, modernized classroom spaces, and key infrastructure improvements that enhance safety, functionality, and comfort throughout the building.
The updated classrooms are being designed to better support todayās instructional practices, including small-group collaboration, hands-on learning, and technology integration. By modernizing these spaces, the district is ensuring Roan students will learn in an environment that supports engagement, creativity, and academic growth.
Improved infrastructure and updated facilities will also enhance the overall student experience by providing a safer, more welcoming, and more efficient school environment for years to come.
Renovations at The Dalton Academy focus on enhancing Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programming. The CTAE Modifications Project is underway and remains on track for substantial completion in Summer 2026.
The project includes facility upgrades that better support hands-on instruction and industry-aligned training. Roofing improvements and infrastructure updates will ensure long-term durability, while redesigned instructional spaces will allow programs to expand and evolve to meet workforce demands.
These improvements will provide students with access to modern learning environments that reflect real-world career settings. By investing in CTAE facilities, Dalton Public Schools is expanding opportunities for students to earn certifications, participate in dual enrollment programs, and graduate with practical skills that prepare them for both college and career success.
Renovations at the Fort Hill campus are also progressing, with substantial completion expected in Summer 2026.
Electrical upgrades have been completed, interior finishes are advancing, and exterior restoration work is largely finalized. These improvements will provide refreshed and functional spaces that better support student services and daily campus operations.
In addition to current construction projects, district leaders are continuing long-term capital planning efforts. Priorities include addressing aging HVAC systems across multiple campuses and engaging in strategic planning for the Park Creek and Blue Ridge facilities. These efforts are aligned with anticipated state funding opportunities to ensure fiscally responsible improvements districtwide.
