👻 Say BOO to drugs! Wrap up Red Ribbon Week by wearing your favorite school-appropriate Halloween costume. Let's celebrate a week of making smart choices and show that HCMS is committed to a fun, safe, and drug-free future.

If you were absent on Picture Day or are a new student who enrolled after October 16, makeup pictures will be taken on Monday, November 9.
Please note: This day is for absentees and new students only. Makeup pictures are not for students who would like to retake photos because of a hairstyle, outfit, or personal preference.
We want every student in the yearbook, so if you missed the original picture day, be ready to smile on November 9! 😄

🌺 Lei off drugs and celebrate making positive choices! Break out your Hawaiian shirts, leis, sunglasses, and tropical gear as we bring island vibes to Red Ribbon Week. Let's relax, have fun, and stay committed to a healthy, drug-free life!

🦸 You have the power to be drug-free! Dress as your favorite superhero or wear superhero-themed clothing and show everyone that making healthy choices is a superpower.

💭 Dream big and stay drug-free! Wear your favorite pajamas and celebrate a future filled with goals, possibilities, and dreams that are too big for drugs to get in the way.

🔴 Kick off Red Ribbon Week by wearing red! Let's show our commitment to making healthy choices and remind everyone that drugs are "red-iculous!" Join the HCMS community as we stand together for a drug-free future.

HCMS Student Published by Georgia Public Broadcasting!
Please join us in celebrating Darian Rivera, a seventh-grade student in Mrs. Barmore's Broadcasting and Communications class, for an incredible achievement!
Darian was recently published by Georgia Public Broadcasting's (GPB) Student Voices Collective for his article, "Why One Educator Traded Digital Streaks for Real Connections," published on October 22, 2026.
This outstanding accomplishment highlights Darian's talents as a student journalist and storyteller. Through interviews, research, and thoughtful writing, he explored an important topic that impacts people of all ages: the value of authentic, face-to-face connections in a digital world. Having his work published by GPB provided Darian with the opportunity to share an important message with a statewide audience while showcasing the power of student voice.
Darian's success is a reflection of the amazing opportunities available through HCMS's Broadcasting and Communications program. Through our partnership with GPB's Student Voices Collective, students gain real-world journalism experience and learn how their stories can make an impact beyond the classroom.
We are incredibly proud of Darian for representing Hammond Creek Middle School so well and for demonstrating what young journalists can accomplish when they are given the opportunity to make their voices heard!
👏 Congratulations, Darian! We can't wait to see where your journalism journey takes you next!

Unfortunately, due to the impending weather associated with Hurricane Isaias, Saturday's Peach State Middle School Cross Country Championship has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
This also means our Dalton Middle cross country season has officially come to an end.
While we're disappointed our runners won't have the opportunity to compete at state, we couldn't be prouder of the season they've had! Both our boys' and girls' teams brought home region championships, and our athletes have given us plenty to celebrate this fall!
Congratulations to all of our runners and coaches on a great season! Thank you for all the hard work, dedication, and miles you've put in.
Go Cats! 🐾
